Meat and Seafood

At Elm City Market you’ll find beef, bison, poultry, pork and lamb in our meat department. We have natural, organic and local choices. There will be a full-service meat & poultry case as well as a full service seafood case. We'll also have packaged fresh meats and seafood, as well as frozen options.

Wild Salmon

Wild salmon contains beneficial omega-3 fatty acids. Supportive, but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Omega-3s also boost mood, fight depression, and may protect against Alzheimer's disease and cancer. Add in salmon's lean protein and vitamin D, and you've got yourself a near-perfect food.

Robin

A new staff favorite at ECM, our Lifefactory beverage bottle is made of glass, with a silicone sleeve. They are available in 4 sizes, from baby bottle to 22 oz, and in a variety of fun colors. Dishwasher safe, BPA free!

Tea Tree Oil

Lesche, Frozen Supervisor

Tea Tree Oil is used for many things especially cuts, bruises, and helps to heal wounds in very little time. If used on the face please dilute it with water. All you need is a cotton ball when applying to an area as needed. I use Tea Tree Oil because it actually works and once you've tried it you'll be addicted. Also, a small bottle can last 6 to 12 months.

Neti Pot

Daniellemember-owner

Danielle has used nutrition and natural healing to combat her allergies and asthma. She learned through the foods she eats and the use of a neti pot, she could control her breathing and control her allergies and asthma. It took some time to get used to the neti pot.

Quinoa

Jerred, Grocery Manager

I love this "mother of all grains" from South America. I cook it just like rice, then add in some seasonable fresh vegetables.  Amazing!!  But unlike wheat or rice, quinoa contains a balanced set of essential amino acids; making it a complete protein source, unusual among plant foods. Who wouldn't want to use and love this beautiful grain every day!!

Not only will we be carrying imported cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano from Italy and Kerry Gold from Ireland, but we’ll be carrying small batch cheeses made right here in Connecticut.

Goats Milk Cheese

Shawnmerie,member-owner

Funny how from such a small little animal we get this amazing, multi-versatile creamy, sometimes hard but always delicious cheese. It can intensify polenta, change the mood of tarts, and can even be a delightful hint in ice-cream, on a salad, a must on a cheese board.

Foxon Park Soda

Kristy, Scanning Coordinator

There's nothing better than a Foxon Park Soda and a slice of good pizza. The two together embody the history and traditions of New Haven. They have delicious and unique flavors. Try one, you'll love it!

Clif Bars

Amy, Marketing Manager

One of my favorite snacks is a Clif Bar paired with a piece of fresh fruit or a Stretch Island Fruit Leather. Both are easy to carry with you for a hike, a day at work, or a long day of traveling.

Pasta and Pasta Sauce

Jennifer, HR Manager

There is an old saying: you get to one's heart through their stomach. In our Italian famiglia (family), time together (insieme) for a cena (evening meal) is so important these days, but so difficult to achieve with our busy lives. My message is to eat and be happy – mangiare.

Smyth's Trinity Farms Chocolate Milk

Jessica, member-owner

Even though I'm not usually big on chocolate milk, I can't resist Smyth's Trinity Farms Chocolate Milk! It's delicious and my all time favorite.

Chicken Salad Sandwich

Brett, IT Manager

The chicken salad from our deli is amazing! In a market full of food options I still find myself ordering it for lunch 3 times a week. Add some tomato, Swiss cheese, pickles and sprouts....Life = Changed.

Whole G Berliner Bread

When our member-owners let us know what local products they want to see in the market, one we hear about time and time again is Whole G, a local New Haven bakery. They make delicious whole grain German breads. We can't wait to see their breads on the shelves here at Elm City Market!

Kale

Lani, member-owner

Kale is a superfood packed full of vitamins & minerals including K, A, C and loads of omega 3's. It holds up great in stews & soups and is yummy in smoothies. It grows in my garden almost all year 'round and there’s a purple variety that is not only pretty but tastes great too! I pretty much cook with it every single day and it always makes the meal better. I love it!

Eggplant

Robert, member-owner

I love eggplant parmesan, but there are so many other things you can do with eggplant. Last week, I made a large tray of roasted winter vegetables with eggplant. It was so delicious that I was eating the leftovers cold right out of the refrigerator for the next 3 days. Roasted vegetables are vegan and are very easy to make. All the work is in cutting the vegetables.

Tomatoes

Cathy, Education and Outreach

Quiet, raw perfection. Dazzling color. Artistic irregularity. Just slice and drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper.  Maybe fold in some fresh mozz and picked basil.  And then -- just as they become a daily staple alongside fresh corn -- they're gone!
